FAQ

Quick answers about AfroTal’s marketplace, vetting, and in‑app messaging.

What is AfroTal?

AfroTal is a self‑serve marketplace where employers can discover vetted African talent and connect via in‑app messaging. Talents stay in control of who they engage with.

Do you handle payments, contracts, payroll, or compliance?

No. AfroTal doesn’t process payments or payroll and isn’t an EOR. We focus on discovery, vetting, and in‑app messaging so employers and talents can connect directly.

How do employers contact talents?

Through in‑app messaging. Talents can accept, decline, or ignore messages and can control their visibility and availability.

What does “vetted” mean on AfroTal?

Vetted means a talent has passed a structured evaluation designed to reduce hiring risk. This can include identity/authenticity checks, profile/portfolio review, behavioral evaluation, and role‑based technical assessment.

Can an employer see all talent details without a subscription?

The plan is to show a teaser profile publicly (enough to evaluate fit) and unlock full profile details and messaging with an active employer subscription.

Do talents pay to join?

Not required for now. Talents apply to be vetted and can control whether they are discoverable on the platform.

Can talents choose who they work for?

Yes. Talents have full autonomy to accept or decline any opportunity and can control who can contact them through platform settings.

Is AfroTal an agency or recruiter?

No. AfroTal is a platform. We don’t represent talents as an agency or negotiate on their behalf. We provide vetting signals and the tools to connect directly.

What roles will AfroTal support?

We’ll support multiple roles (engineering, design, data, operations, and more). Vetting is role‑based so assessments match the skill set being claimed.

What are the user types?

Talents, Employers, and Admin. Admin users manage the vetting pipeline and platform trust & safety operations.
